GRAMMY NOMINEE SIMON PHILLIPS IN PAKISTAN



Karachi, 16th February 2019: The Grammy Nominee Simon Phillips is programmed to reach in Pakistan on 21st February 2019 as part of Kashan Admani’s Dream Station Star Series 2019.

Simon Phillips the superstar drummer would be in Karachi to conduct a Masterclass along with Dream Station Studios. While talking about the Masterclass, Phillips commented, 
“I’m very excited to be coming to Pakistan very soon as part of Dream Station Star Series. I’m going to be playing and I’m going to be giving you a workshop to music industry professionals and discussing engineering making techniques, production, and all that good stuff.” 
This will mark his first ever visit to Pakistan. The drummer’s visit is scheduled to be in Karachi, Pakistan from 21st February to 2nd March 2019.

Meanwhile addressing the necessity for unleashing growth avenues for Pakistani musicians, the maker of Dream Station Studios, Kashan Admani says, 
“I am extremely excited to announce the Dream Station Star Series. An event in which we are bringing famous international musicians to Pakistan to conduct masterclasses and workshops. We are bringing Simon Phillips who is one of the world’s biggest drummer, music producer and recording engineer and also a 2019 Grammy Nominee. We want local musicians to have access to international music stars they have been listening to and have been inspired by. We intend to provide them an opportunity to learn from the masters themselves and get motivation improve as music professionals.”

More detail about the Masterclass with Simon Phillips will be disclosed at a later date.

ABOUT SIMON PHILLIPS

Simon Phillips (born 6 February 1957) is an English jazz, pop, and rock drummer and record producer. He had worked with rock bands during the 1970s and 1980s and was also the drummer for the band Toto from 1992 to 2014.
Phillips began to play professionally when he turned twelve in his father's dixieland band for four years. Phillips was the drummer on the 1976 album 801 Live with Phil Manzanera and Brian Eno. He worked as a session drummer for Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, Bernie Marsden, Mike Oldfield, Judas Priest, Tears of Fears and The Who. He was the drummer for The Who during the band's American reunion tour in 1989. He turn out to be Toto's drummer in 1992 after Jeff Porcaro passed away.
In 2003, he was inducted into the Modern Drummer magazine Hall of Fame. He has also been nominated for the 61st Annual Grammy Awards (2019).

Azaan Sami Khan’s Musical Debut with Parwaaz Hai Junoon

Karachi [29th Aug – 2018]: Recently, Azaan Sami Khan’s latest photo shoot took the internet by storm, which was his first step towards the start of his successful journey. Son of legendary names, Zeba Bakhtiar and Adnan Sami Khan, Azaan marked the start of his musical career with Parwaaz Hai Junoon.

The most anticipated film of 2018, Parwaaz Hai Junoon is a eulogy to Pakistan’s Air Force, but also a platform for Pakistani filmmakers to show their creativity.  The music for the film was composed by Azaan Sami Khan, which has already made it to the top playlists of everyone across the globe. Thaam Lo - composed by Azaan and sung by Atif Aslam is not only melodious but a genuine depiction of the new era for Pakistan’s music industry.

Khan shared his gratitude by saying that, ‘It was an overwhelming experience working on Parwaaz Hai Junoon’s music and an incredible learning experience for me working with Atif Aslam on Thaam Lo’. Azaan has composed five out of 6, songs for the film. Each song is beautiful in itself.


Parwaaz Hai Junoon released across Pakistan on Eid-Ul-Azha. The film is directed by Haseeb Hassan, produced by MominaDuraid and written by Farhat Ishtiaq. The star-cast includes Hamza Ali Abbasi, Ahad Raza Mir, Shaz Khan, Hania Amir, Kubra Khan, Adnan Jaffar and Farhan Ali Agha.


PTCL ORGANIZED NATIONWIDE IFTAARS FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED ACROSS PAKISTAN - Ramzan Mehman with PTCL Razakaars

KARACHI – 12th June, 2018: PTCL’s in-house volunteer force PTCL Razakaar hosted community Iftaars nationwide, whereby spreads were laid out for people at mosques, hospitals, old age homes and labour communities. The company was able to reach out to approximately 13000 beneficiaries across the nation.

PTCL catered to fasting communities in far flung areas such as Sorange in Balochistan, GhallaMandi in Punjab, Tharparkar in Sindh and DI Khan in KPK as well as travelers and less privileged people in the heart of cities such as the Clock Tower of Faisalabad.

PTCL Razakaars were able to spread smiles across people tending to their ailing family members at The Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, DHQ and Lady Hospital in DI Khan, Civil Hospital Gujranwala, DHQ Hospital Khanewal, Nishtar Hospital Multan and the Civil Hospital Larkana. Community members of Rawalpindi and Islamabad were reached out through distribution of lunchboxes by our mobile vans. Razakaars made the effort to personally reach out to the most deserving persons hence living up to the true spirit of the month and the RamzanMehman Drive.

The largest Iftaar meal was laid out at the Faisal Mosque in Islamabad where 1000 visitors were treated and served by the company’s volunteers. Iftaars were also hosted at the Jamia Masjid Larkana, Gujrat and Abbottabad. This is the second year of the PTCL Razakaar program. Approximately 600 volunteers registered under the drive are regularly engaged in community service initiatives each quarter.

President & CEO PTCL Dr. Daniel Ritz appreciated the efforts of the PTCL Razakaar force saying it was commendable how we managed to reach out to people truly in need, even in most remote areas, across the country. He further added that PTCL is humbled to contribute positively to the society and will continue philanthropic initiatives with the same zeal and fervor.
